Matthew was commissioned into the British Army in 1985. During the next 27 year’s he saw active service in Northern Ireland (6 years), Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Falkland Islands before leaving the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. On leaving the Army he joined Altor Risk Group as a Project Manager - within 18 months, Matthew was the European Business Unit Leader running a team of thirty and turning around a small loss to a £300,000 profit from a turnover of £3million.
Matthew left Altor to become the Crisis Management Leader for Genel Energy where he led the delivery of crisis planning, preparation, training and exercises. Following the delivery of this project, Matthew established his own Crisis Management and Business Continuity consultancy, “Inverroy Crisis Management Limited” (Inverroy) in March 2015.
Five years later, Inverroy employs six full time staff and a team of specialist Associates. Inverroy’s consultancy ranges from full time placements for specific projects to strategic workshops and from travel risk assessments to crisis communications training. Areas of expertise across the team include Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Security support.
Whilst most clients are from the oil and gas industry (Taqa Iraq, Genel Energy, Cairn Energy, Premier Oil), other clients include Scottish Parliament, Ventient Energy and several Cambridge Colleges.
On leaving the Army, Matthew returned to University and earned an MBA (Oil and Gas Management) with Distinction from Robert Gordon University. Matthew is a Member and Approved Instructor of the Business Continuity Institute and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
